Two Year Anniversary

Yes its April Fools day and its no joke we’ve been in business for two years today!!! What a journey the last two years has been! I never dreamed it would become what it has, my heart is so full!

Two years and three months ago I was in transition wondering what the Lord had in mind for my future. After years of administrative work that I couldn’t dream of doing any longer and a year of biding my time at a large retailer I was done. I quit. But what next? I felt a bit like Abraham as he set out on his journey, he wasn’t sure where he was going and left all that was familiar behind, but he knew God was leading and that was good enough for him. So like Abraham I set out on my journey, granted it was a little different then his but it took faith, faith to overcome the fear of the unknown, fear of failure and lots of doubt.

Then things began to move from a simple desire to do something I loved too a brief conversation between my mom and brother, a meeting with the owner of a space for rent, a handshake of commitment, a same day trip to city hall for a business license, a whirlwind of activity with many supportive hands of help, into the opening of the front gate at Classic Farmhouse just a brief month later!!! I still marvel at how it all came together, almost as if my steps were being lead…perhaps they were? ;0)

And now we begin the third year of our journey, what will it entail? Only God knows the full story, but we do know a few things for sure and for now we are pretty excited about the following:

Want to know what’s next?

Well for starters we are expanding the store over 100 sq ft! The ugly ovens in back are coming out and we are bumping out the front entry which means more space for more merchandise! We will also be sprucing up the walls and reconfiguring the floor plan to make it more shopper friendly.

Next we are extending our days and hours beginning May 1st! You will be able to shop with us five days a week, six hours a day and the first Sunday of every month.

Im also super excited that my sister in law Sabrina has decided to join the Classic Farmhouse team and will be seen around the farmhouse on a very regular basis!!! She is talented, creative, sweet, funny and way more organized then I! Thrilled for her to get started and can’t wait for you to meet her. She will be heading up all the custom orders amongst many other things so if you have a piece you might want redone get on our calendar now! Sabrina can be reached at sabrina@theclassicfarmhouse.com…or if you want to just email her to welcome her that would be cool too!

Well thats a start…many more great things and details to come!

Yours truly,
Katy

    Hi Katy,

I firmly believe there are no coincidences, just GOD! So I know when I was lead to your page and your story that is was simply for me to be encouraged. My story is very similar to yours, working for years and never really loving it until a back injury led to me being out of work. Spent a year finishing my degree to feel like I’ve accomplished something and also to position myself for a better return to the job market that I knew I never wanted to go back to. It was during that time that HE firmly planted the seed in my heart to do what I LOVE to do which is make furniture and anything else I can get my hands on beautiful again and by the looks of it, you and I have very much in common. I struggled with the fear of the unknown, of failure & those same things that you had to overcome to finally be well into your journey. Even though I had the support of family & friends that have seen some of my works, I just didn’t believe in myself enough to make a business out of it but I am now much more inspired by your story and am committed to stepping out on Faith, on this Beautiful Mother’s Day. This was a wonderful gift and I pray that you continue to soar and enjoy what you love with much success.

Have a Blessed Mother’s Day from North Carolina!
